Second Hand
What questions should I ask when you inquire about a piano dealer?
I am currently hunting piano and want to buy used an upright piano. Despite the obvious questions-when was the last time he was settled and there is concealed damage, issues are there relevant and potentially vital that I might ask? Also, do you think it would be OK to Be Based on the piano in a conservatory? The temperature varies a little in there from the main house (about 2-3 degrees warmer or cooler in summer / winter) This can have a profound impact on the operations / aspects piano tuning? A big thank you!
First, ask your tuner / controller to inspect the piano before you buy. After all, he or she will work with her at least twice a year as long as you own. Whether the piano has been sitting in the light, near a window near an outside wall, inspect the hammer for both fungus and excessive wear. Make sure there are no accessories nifty little settled as a Tack bar (a bar that decreases down between the keys and strings to sound like a honky tonk piano. It is slightly better than support actually hammer nails in, but now much. Check the pedals and how close to a correct action he has. If it was an action quite correct (usually available only on grand pianos and some full amount) of the right pedal will legato (lifts therefore the shock all the strings will ring) in the middle will be a pedal (sostenuto lifts the dampers of the keys that you push down to the origin and allows the remaining keys remain staccato) and the left pedal has a "una corda diminuendo." (which literally moves the hammers to the left to find a string instead of three), stifling cheaper, the middle pedal lifts the dampers simply on the low side of the harp and the pedal left (foot) physically moves the hammers closer to the strings which creates a similar effect, but not so good if you're used to a diminuendo true una corda. It is important that the temperature is constant. A small space heater is usually sufficient to maintain the temperature within the range if necessary. Your tuner can advise you on this. May your tuner also advises a humidifier or dehumidifier depending on the size of the country where you live, and what type of heating you have in your living space. Take this advice seriously. It is much cheaper to buy one of these, it is to set a table harmony or replace a cracked piano, which is irreparably harmed by a sudden change of climate. Look for rust on the pegs. This will indicate the piano has not received regular care. Look closely at the soundboard. If it was glued or reinforced, this piano may not be a good investment for you. Watch the keyboard and view later to see if they still are. If they are not, it may indicate poor control. Watch rods and hammers to ensure they were not glued back together. A professional tuner to replace the stem rather than trying to pick up. You may also see that it was glued together with twine tightly wrapped. This is an amateur attempt to home repair and probably indicates that your tuner will be out of your house for a more complete repair on your first focus. When you Place the piano in your living space, it will be listening a few days after his arrival. Do not tune on the day it happens because you agree that this is again after he moved anyway. It's Alright to tweak it a little unite, if absolutely necessary but you really want the Cabinet to respond to speech, and the harp to settle in the new strain after putting it on the movers. You probably want to get it looked at again in two to four months and then every six months or as needed. It depends mainly on the sensitivity of your ear, how often you play and your ability to adjust unison when necessary. I always keep a hammer and felt in my repair kit of instruments but I was trained by a professional tuner and know how to use them properly. Make sure to go through this critical step before attempting to do something like this yourself. As you instrument should be placed on an interior wall, away from direct sunlight, you should make the same thing yourself. Make sure you inspect the instrument, or ask your tuner to do so as soon as it is placed in your apartment. Same Most professional movers can inflict damage inadvertently during a move and you want this corrected as soon as possible. Avoid movers who brandish touch pens. This is not a reasonable expectation when it comes to compensation for all, but the most superficial scratches. Sometimes the piano tuner also moves. This solution is ideal. Make sure you get some pure lemon oil or a professional touch on the piano when she arrives. Its implementation will allow you to inspect the finish line at the bottom without looking to be picky. Make sure the piano is well balanced. Having an available level if necessary and seek to advance the holds, coasters, or what other documents are necessary to ensure that your instrument is in an excellent position to support the harp, and the soundboard. Hope this helps.
