Switch Lamp
replace switch on the lamp, the bulb to use?
We have a 300W torchiere halogen lamp and the switch is broken. I found a switch on the internet which is 500W. Power I use a 300W bulb with the switch 500W (full power 500W or less?)? Thank you!
If you ask this question, then you're not qualified to do your own electrical wiring. Throw the lamp away and buy a new one. The 500W should probably switch to control a load of 300W ... However, you do not mention the voltage and amperage that the switch is evaluated to - it makes a difference. In addition, we do not know the quality or reliability of the - it may fail and burn your house down ... UL is it? For this question, halogen lamps are a huge fire danger on their own ... discard it and replace it with an incandescent or fluorescent light.
